What makes the Apple Literacy Program unique?

Apple tree life cycle
  • We offer parallel reading books and resources:

  1. Photo readers with black on white print.

  2. Illustrated readers with yellow on black print (designed for students with low vision – however, for those students who prefer black on white print, the photo readers will be suitable as the size of the font is large, and these books can be used in tandem with the illustrated readers).

  • Our VI range of Core word readers has been developed for students with low vision. The content is identical to the photo readers in order to provide a unique inclusive educational experience.

  • We have used high contrast colours in our VI range of readers to offer students with low vision a more comfortable ‘reading’ experience.

  • The print used in our reading books and resources is suitable for emergent literacy learners.

  • Our Teaching Guide and Lesson Plans contain both black on white and yellow on black photocopiable resources.

  • The illustrations/photos used in our readers provide backdrops for the Core words and are age appropriate for all emergent literacy learners, irrespective of their year level at school.

  • Our cross-curricular Lesson Plans include decodable texts & activities linked to each reading book.

  • Our ‘Crunch Time! Words & Sounds’ books list all the words and their associated sounds for our Core word readers and decodable texts. They serve as a visual guide, neatly tying the entire program together to facilitate easier planning. They also support teachers in complementing and consolidating phonics programs.

The Apple Pack

Our ‘Apple Pack’ includes 11 books in total - The ‘A.P.P.L.E. Teaching Guide & Resources’ book and the ‘I Like’ series reading books. As new resources and reader series are developed, new pack add-ons will be available for purchase.

The Apple Literacy Program has been developed to help teachers educate and support early literacy learners with diverse learning needs.

Apple Readers

Our Apple Readers are designed to teach students the 55 Core words included in the Apple Literacy Program. The parallel nature of the reading books means that learners with low vision and/or unique visual learning styles are included in an equally engaging approach.
